This small amphora is a miracle of stonework: it was made from a single block of alabaster to receive a very thin wall which is almost transparent. The miniature size would suggest that it was functioned as a kid’s toy; however, this possibility should be excluded regarding the extreme fragility of the vessel. Rather, it was designed as an object used for the occasional rituals such as libations, or even without any functional use: it was probably once dedicated to the shrine as an ex-voto. If the amphora contained any liquid, a precious perfume oil, it required a stopper and a stand to hold the piece in the upright position.

The shape is both elegant and well-structured, especially noticeable is the continuous line of the body and handle, the latter has the angled shoulder. A short knobbed toe is centered at the bottom of the vessel. A distinctive ring surrounds the toe, this makes clear the belonging of this vase to the Knidian type of the ancient Greek amphoras.
